I mentioned the disposition fee was $395 at viewtopic.php?p=473244#p473244. Your amount (if it's changed) should be in your lease contract.

Yep on what Leftie said.

Here are two extremes on the better batteries on 2013's (built 4/2013 and later):
viewtopic.php?p=474147#p474147
viewtopic.php?p=496269#p496269

Lizard battery wasn't officially installed until model year 2015 (viewtopic.php?t=17168).

My 5/2013 built Leaf still has all 12 bars and is still slowly creeping towards losing a bar. I'm now past 45.6K miles.

Whether or not a degraded battery and by how much is still useful to you depends on your use cases. If you only need 2 miles per charge, a battery with all bars gone still will work for you.

Anyone Convert a Blink EVSE to Open EVSE?

Has anyone had experience converting the Blink EVSE to Open EVSE using their kits? I've read the Open EVSE instructions and it seems pretty straightforward to rip out all the guts of the Blink reusing the 240V cable, J1772 cable, and Cutler Hammer AC Contactor. I've had no problems with my J1772 cable so far.

Their kits range from $104 for just an LED to $149 for a color LCD. I'm uncertain if I need the LCD at all, and whether I should pay another $100 to get their tiny enclosure. Also, I'm hoping to get a Tesla Model 3 at some point. Will there be any problems connecting to both the Leaf (I plan to keep min) and the Tesla? I heard that there's a converter plug to the Tesla plug.

I can vouch that switching to EV improves mental health. I no longer want to road rage when stuck in traffic. Stop and go in a Leaf is relaxing, compared to constant automatic gear shifting in my old gas car. Never again.

Isn't this a warranty issue for Nissan to address and resolve?

(Either they replace the bad module ..replace the car..replace the entire pack..)

This is bad news that we are hearing about failures similar to an ICE car. But it is good news you were able to figure out what the problem was and that the fix may be easy enough that normal people with some tools can do the job. Thanks for sharing your experience.

On the island DCFC cost is $0.35 per kWh (plus parking fee's) which is reasonable seeing as we pay $0.10 / kWh as residential average rate.

Try the arithmetic again

Nothing wrong with the math. 5.8kWh on a 208V evse @ $0.35/hr is $2.03 . This should be charged in my opinion right now they are free causing the congestion problem. If your driving a phev c/w a 3kw charger this price will double with the proposed hourly chrge.
If I plug into a shared EVSE and another ev plugs in to the second head we will both be paying double as they are only rated at 6kWh total( not to many around but they are there, Chemainus for eg) .
I guess my beef is the DCFC charge of $16 PLUS the $0.35/kWh Plus parking.

You should definitely get the LCD, IMHO (unless you can find a way to repurpose the Blink's display, which would be even better). You shouldn't need a case if you're satisfied with the Blink's case (large, but stylin', IMHO).

I had intended to do this conversion, but haven't yet. I just have my broken Blink sitting on a shelf for now, alongside my broken OpenEVSE.

LeftieBiker wrote:I don't think that the CPO warranty covers battery capacity - that would be under the Klee agreement. There were some 4 year leases originally, and many of us are at or passed 4 years using lease extensions. If you need QC, then by all means don't buy one without it.

If CPO *requires* at least 9 bars of battery capacity and it's sitting on their lot before sale with 8 bars, don't they need to replace the battery?
I guess it doesn't matter since it's under 5 years/60K miles anyway. I just think it's odd they didn't just use the warranty to replace the battery before putting it on their lot for sale as a CPO vehicle.

2013 Leaf - Dead 12-Volt Battery every 2 Weeks

This seems odd to me. If the battery has no drain at start up(unlike ice car),
and charge voltage goes to a high level at start up, and does not lower until
some time after driving the car, then the short trips should be the best for
charging the 12 volt battery. I now drive in the winter only 6 miles per day
on an over 5 year old 12 volt battery, and see no problems.

Yup, got one today. I went over to the electrical supply place to order some Panduit wire duct for my behemoth Transit project but decided to go another route when I found out how expensive it was, so while I was there, I got the outlet, box and cover. Have to dig through my pile to see what I have and what I still need.

My wife got her first ride tonight when we went over to get a couple of Blizzards at the DQ :D . Did 7.4 mi/kWh on the way home. Wasted about 20 cents worth of electricity.

So recently I noticed a warning from Dropbox that the old API was going away on June 28th.
Today, LeafSpy was crashing immediately after I opened it until I disabled Dropbox.
Coincidence? Unhandled Dropbox API errors? I saw this on 2 different devices...

Exactly, the disposition fee is in your contract and that is your obligation, not some different number (unless the dealer chooses to wave the fee).

If you actually want to consider buying your car at end of lease and you and getting no help, or nonsense, from one dealer - talk to another. Any dealer can do the end of lease process or can negotiate a purchase.

Actually, you are whining all the way to a Tesla 3, IF you can get one, and IF the price is satisfactory (though, if you don't care about price, buy a Tesla S and call it good). And you evidently want us to hold your hand while you do it. It is your choice and your call. You don't need any help from here.

They bet big that all they had to have was 230+ range, and that the rest of the car was not that important. Now instead of losing $6K a car, they are losing close to $12K a car. GMs challenge moving forward successfully in the BEV market will either cost reduce, or de-content the car. Their only alternative is to be happy with a niche car that has limited appeal without the price required for it to be successful.

This right here is "old car company" mentality. Everything must stand on its own, make lots of money, sell 100k units per year right away, etc. etc. But you know what? This car probably makes money based upon ZEV credits. They're also gaining market share, building experience and consumer confidence making in a good EV product. They put too much range in the car and made a crappy interior. Sure seems like an easier fix than the other way around.

2011 Nissan Leaf with a newly replaced battery

I think that was about the most informative answer anyone could hope for, and I agree with JimSouCal that Nissan (and the dealership that did the work) would hopefully want to find out exactly what went wrong here to avoid any PR fallout. I think blaming the owner's wiring is the wrong way to go here!
If the OP indeed paid the full price for a replacement traction battery, it would look good if they comped him a new OEM EVSE instead of trying to charge him full retail. If not, send a note to EVSE Upgrade. I'm sure they have a few around that they would part with for much less. Even the upgraded ones without a core are much less than than dealer wholesale.

Nah, I haven't had enough time to try it.

I have a 2017 base model leaf now, so it would still be a good project, but I don't think I'll get to it this year.
