Any feedback would be appreciated as I don't think the one for the 2018 Leaf is much different than the previous organizers.

Thanks, Ken

The one I have still looks pretty good as it really wasn't used very much. The lids are on the lighter side, so I'd avoid putting too much weight on them. They seem strong enough for regular use, but I'm not sure what they are made of. Probably the most weight I've had on them are several cases of water/drinks.

My reason for wanting to trade the organizer for a cargo cover is that I find that the things I might might want to keep out of sight (like a rolling computer case) are too tall for the organizer.

Does the 2018 Nissan Leaf only heats remotely?

Yeah I read about it but I'm pretty much certain there is no option to set the temperature for remote climate control like in the previous leafs... Which is strange!

What I saw is the climate start timer, but i guess that's a different thing, starting the climate control on specific pre-defined days and hours...

Any home air sourced heat pump brands you recommend or suggest to avoid?

This year we might be preemptively replacing our 16 year old central air-conditioner and completely ditching the 16 year old gas furnace as you suggested.

We would consider the most efficient Trane as previously mentioned, but this brand might be among the priciest. The Rheem RP20 series is 20 SEER/11HSPF, so would like to cross shop that as well.

If that is $5.63 Canadian for 4 litres,

Did you get the production date on that car? It’s beeen mentioned extensively these issues have been being corrected. Did you melt getting that close? Light wood is a design trend and did you check it was simulated?

lorenfb wrote:My key issue with the Tesla has been its management, but basically little with its products (MS/MX) until the M3 arrived. Today, given limited
parking, I fortuitously found myself parking next to a M3. As I walked along side, my first thought was; "What's with this simulated light wood
dash?". It reminded me of the BMW i3 with its bamboo dash. Tesla could have at least darkened it with a stain to enhance a sense richness,
i.e. to complement the M3's dark black color. Next, looking inside one finds this obtrusive display (small monitor) in the middle of the dash setting
horizontally, at least the MS has the display setting vertically and lower. The time of day was about noon with bright sunlight. Given that and
the glass roof (not appealing), the resulting display glare appeared to be excessive.

As I walked around the M3, I noticed the front of the hood positioned about a 1/4" below the left front fender. To correct that type of a
problem, typically a 10mm open-end can re-adjust the hood stops within a few seconds. Even more problematic from a fit standpoint
was the rear deck-lid interface to the left rear quarter panel. The lowest part of rear deck-lid was out about 3/8", i.e. it basically over-lapped
the rear panel below the deck-lid. Where was the final inspection crew at Fremont when that M3 was released from production?
Does Tesla even have a final inspection? Surely the production assembler would have noticed that and corrected it.

Yes, the M3 right now is the coolest toy to showcase as one drives. But pay $50K+ for marginally appealing "esthetic" car design with production
issues, i.e. quality control, I don't think so!

I saw an add for Leaf on some sports channel while I was eating in a restaurant yesterday (probably NBA playoffs, but was not paying attention). Nissan was also advertising other vehicles.

There was a normal prime time TV ad here, which I don't recall seeing since the Big Sales Push in 2013.

My hero !

Stand on a crate in Hyde park and scream at the trees for all I care. Just do not offer your opinion as if it is fact or widely accepted.

What seems to be widely accepted is high SoC AND high temperatures AND time cause degradation. If SoC is kept lower then more chance of better battery life. Those in a cool climate don't need to worry so much but we now have a really bad situation here in New Zealand where many of the imports, now including some from the UK which have been driven harder, are dropping a bar for 2016 cars and there is zero support currently from Nissan - no warranty, not even ability to buy replacement packs.

I concur it is good advice to maintain lower SoC if you don't need the range. When it comes to facts, if only Nissan would give some reasons why these cars aren't holding up in some areas it would avoid the need for people to give their best guess as to what is happening.

We are in southern BC where although it can get quite hot in summer (July and August) it is otherwise a fairly mild climate.

How warm does it stay at night when the days are hot?

Where did the car reside before (per Carfax/Autocheck) report? That can help determine if it was a reset victim vs. reading a true 12 capacity bars.

Make sure you're looking at the right bars. http://www.electricvehiclewiki.com/File ... bars_s.jpg is a fully charged 3 capacity bar loser.

Following up.... the car has 37,343 miles on it. Battery 264 GIDS, 94% @ SOC 97.2
Not sure what to do with the car now that I have another one in the garage that I picked up on Friday. Maybe a donor car for an electric boat, or a powerwall? Hmmm, so many things I could do with it.

Thanks. I think the seats are the same, but worry that there might still be an installation issue if they are for the previous Leaf. I also want some kind of velour if at all possible. Does using the seat heater on High provide as much heat as an uncovered seat on Low? And does the neoprene have a rubber smell?

GerryAZ wrote:When I purchased my 2011 and again when I purchased my 2015 I was required to sign and date Nissan disclosure forms discussing battery deterioration (one document) and range under various conditions (another document). I suspect everyone did (whether they read them or not).

I leased a '13 for 2 years back in July 2013 and I think I still have a folder with that paperwork, not filled out and not signed.

I full well knew what I was getting into since I've been here in mid-2011, knew about the Phoenix capacity loss fiasco and loaned some equipment to surfingslovak for the range test before he flew over to Phoenix. I met at Turbo3's house :) as he lives very near me.

I am pleasantly surprised that the 4/2013+ batteries seem to be holding up better than the crap pre-4/2011 batteries. I had no way of knowing that when I leased the above lease. I believe it wasn't really known either when I bought my used 5/2013 built '13 in July 2015. Back then, I figured I'd be done more capacity bars than am I now. I only lost my 1st bar in Nov 2017 at ~46K miles.

I think it was the Fall of 2015 that the auction listed was posted that gave the first indication here that the early 2013 builds were crap. BTW, I just did my last LeafSpy reading on my "ANA" (named by the NY DMV via license plate) before I turn her in soon, and the numbers are as follows:

SOH = 88.91%

Hx = 85.92

AH = 58.15

I had no idea how lucky I was getting an April build! Only ~12-14% capacity lost over 5 years.

According to KBB, that car is priced high trade-in / low private seller. considering how high Leafs have been priced on craigslist recently, that does sound like a good price... as long as the carfax shows good servicing and no problems... AND as long as you are buying from an original owner. Dealers get cars from auctions, and you know that something happened if the car went to auction....

I would say.. try to go down another $500.

I am also looking for a good used leaf and am shocked how high the asking prices have become... I don't know if those cars are selling at those high prices.. Like I would never spend $7-8K on a 2011 with three missing bars...

Good morning Leftie. I would say mid teens by morning for July and August. Maybe 5 bars sometimes 6 on the battery. Daily summer driving, especially longer trips will see 7 bars. I think I may have seen 8 once on a smoky hot trip to Revelstoke in Fire season. Three fast charges that day but shorter duration. Maybe 15 min each. That trip the range was shorter. Faster highway, air conditioning etc. The air inside the car was good but the air outside was horrible.
