That would jive with the tracked movement on the Nissan USA site. We gained 300 miles from yesterday. I am expecting around that on a daily basis although I now feel that what we are seeing is confirmed shipments at dealers and not actual product on the lots.

So despite showing up in Colorado this morning, its probably going to be 1-3 days before the car is actually ready to sell.

Some more detail on last fall's announcement by CG, in previous post:

Six EVs headed to Nissan, Infiniti

TOKYO — The Nissan brand will get four full electric vehicles and Infiniti will receive two over the next five years, a top Nissan Motor Co. powertrain executive says.

Those six battery-powered vehicles are the Japanese automaker’s share of the 12 EVs that are now planned for Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi through 2022, ...

The six Nissan vehicles include only full EVs, not hybrid powertrains such as the company’s new e-Power system...

The EV plan reflects only the next five years. Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa separately last month revealed a longer range plan in which, starting in 2021, every new vehicle coming out of Infiniti will be either an EV or an e-Power system vehicle.

I would have to look it up but iirc the ahr rating was 113
O.K., so perhaps the electrical interface has changed, but the video only claimed that the dimensions and the connectors were the same.

Nissan to release 4 BEVs, Inifinity 2 in next 5 years

A Nissan powertrain executive has stated that Nissan would launch 4 new BEVs in the next 5 years while Inifinity would launch 2:
InsideEVs wrote:We now learn, via Toshihiro Hirai, Nissan’s corporate vice president for powertrain and EV engineering, that Nissan-Infiniti will get 6 of those BEVs, in 5 years or less. A further breakdown says that Nissan will have 4 BEVs, while Infiniti gets 2.

As it stands right now, Nissan has two BEVs on the market, the 2018 Nissan LEAF and the Nissan e-NV200. Infiniti has zero, but the luxury automaker did announce one is in the works and that it’ll arrive by 2021.
Simply put, BEVs are becoming a larger-and-larger part of major automakers' portfolios.

The Genie is now fully out of the bottle.

I think it should be great for that. Are there any fast chargers convenient to where you are for days where you don't get quite the range you want?

Please follow the link to our website to view our inventory of Nissan LEAF's.

https://carportal.co

We currently have 23 vehicles in stock. All are single owner lease returns. All have low mileage, 12/12 battery capacity and a clean CarFax report. We put the cars thru a rigorous certification and reconditioning process. After reconditioning, our cars are stored in our new 30K sq ft climate controlled warehouse facility.

As you'll note from the website our prices are fixed at about 10-15% below CarMax. We offer free home delivery in Northern California and $200 flat rate delivery to Southern California. All contracts, documentation and financing is handled online.

Several people on our team drive a LEAF so we can answer many questions though by no means are we engineers. In the past we've actually come to this forum seeking technical advice.

We look forward to helping anyone who is looking for a 2013+ used Nissan LEAF in perfect condition. We're adding Fiat 500e's, BMW i3's and Chevy Volt's to the inventory in the weeks ahead.

Any and all feedback is welcome. Thanks!

Tesla's influence on the auto industry and elsewhere

When I read articles about EVs, I find that I'm often saying to myself things like, "That's only happening because of Tesla," or , "That's just a copy of a Tesla." Since it happened twice today, I thought I would start a thread where we could record things which appear to be Tesla-influenced in one way or another, but by some other corporation.

First, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Does this Mazda concept car look like some other car to anyone else here?

Next, I have to wonder why Porsche feels the need to build a dedicated EV supercar platform:
InsideEVs wrote:As far as Volkswagen Group goes, Porsche is already ahead of other brands and is now planning yet another future EV platform, specifically for electric supercars and two-door sports cars.

EatsShootsandLeafs wrote:I agree the lack of heated steering wheel is really unfortunate, along with lack of a key fob.

As more cars hit the road I'm starting to have reservations about the model 3 again. I'm seeing far too many issues pop up on the forums. Lots of owners have already had to go back to the service center, sometimes within a day or two, to get things fixed, anything from battery to RFID reader to a mirror motor to a touch screen (some of them apparently are possessed and pressing the right side of the screen by themselves). Really just weird issues across the board indicative of Tesla's mad rush to push it out the door before nailing down quality issues.

All of this is bad, but in my case I am hours from a service center. I can promise that I am never taking a day out of my week to get a car serviced. Never. Do not have the time, and if I had it I would not make it for that. So if I'm having this thing shipped to me or driving across state to pick it up and one of these problems pops up, how does it get resolved?
As SageBrush says: Ranger service (Mobile Service Technician). If it is warranty service and you live a long way from a Service Center a Ranger will do the work or flatbed tow the car to a Service Center. My main screen went out — the car was still driveable but default charging was very slow, which limited useful range. When the ranger couldn't get a replacement in a couple of days — Tesla had a hold on them for some reason — he brought me a rental car and took my car to Denver 300+ miles away. He would have brought it back to me, but I drove the rental to Denver and drove my car home myself because it is a lovely drive over the mountains and I enjoy it. All this was at no cost to me since my CPO car is under warranty.

No, Service Centers aren't everywhere, so Tesla introduced Ranger service some years ago. By the way, my CPO car was delivered to me when I bought it because I was so far away. I think the delivery limit was something like 155 miles or more, although subject to change I would guess.

Just something else to consider. However, since you are adamant that you don't want to deal with problems you might want to wait a couple of years before considering a Model 3, while Tesla works out problems with the early cars. You don't seem like someone willing to deal with early production model issues.

So how many of these issues results in the car being undrivable. I have seen a few mentioned here and there but they are all minor inconveniences in my eyes...

You folks are on the wrong forum for the discussion of the TSLA service experience...

Why Tesla Will Fail

...They've had five years to fix this sort of crap and they've only made it worse. My advice to investors at this point is to hold on now, but dump the stock before 2020 if they don't fix the chronic and ever-worsening service problems.

It's not the bottom-line technicians. They're all fine. It's top management failure. There's no internal communications: information does not get passed from one person to another, and any one person who screws up the information ruins everything. The only way to get good service is to talk directly to the service tech who is going to do the work on your car. The only way to get a software bug fixed is to find the programmer who is responsible for fixing it. And Tesla does their best to *prevent* you from talking to the people you need to talk to.

Feb update on battery stats. Actually there's been almost no change from Jan apart from dropping the third bar in early Jan. Mileage stands at 39550 mi. 52.81 AH, 246 GID's, 67.70% SOH, 59.15% Hx. I'm now charging the battery at every opportunity and keeping the battery at full charge overnight in hopes of forcing the fourth bar to drop. Doesn't seem to have made any difference though. I'm starting to think that battery degradation is only a function of time and temperature. If true it doesn't bode well owners of 30KWH cars, Everybody is going to have replace their batteries before the warranty expires and some of us are going to do it a couple of times.

I did a LOT of fast highway driving in my 2013 Leaf then took an unnecessary highway loop (wrong exit!) and my displayed miles remaining on charge was zero or "---" coming home and it still got me another mile or so home off the highway exit home. Whew, never wanna do THAT again!

IIRC, the GOM goes to --- miles when you hit VLBW (2nd warning). What's more scary is without Leaf Spy having % SoC go from say 5 to 7% to ---%. This happened to me: viewtopic.php?p=388984#p388984.

https://www.edmunds.com/nissan/leaf/201 ... r-end.html in the video drove an '11 Leaf (doesn't have % SoC display) down to dead.

Bottom line: If you want visibility into what's going on and not fly blind when you get do ---% remaining, use Leaf Spy!

Until 2015, IIRC, QC was an option on the SV, not standard.

Or, to put it another way, if they use a chemistry with the same thermal properties as the 30kwh pack, this one will be worse. Otherwise we'll have to wait and see.

@RolandPark, if you decide to take the plunge, make sure you buy a 2013/2014/2015 LEAF SV that includes the charging package (CHADEMO port) as that will allow you to charge the battery from a low state of charge (i.e. 20%) to 80% charge in under half an hour.

Hi, my Leaf lease is ending and I will no longer need the upgraded L2 Nissan EVSE when we got our Leaf back in 2013. We did it instead of upgrading our existing EVSE since we leased and knew we’d have to return the original one with the car. The upgraded EVSE is capable of 240V @ 16A.

So, if you want to have the higher charging capability without modifying your own, you can buy this one. Selling for $275. (Compared to upgrading your own for $250.) It comes with a 6-20 plug, but will include a 14-50 adapter.

Let me know if you are interested.

When a Nissan employee parks a car there, there’s really no excuse. It’s deliberate, and they are probably not wanting to pay the electric bill.

Nevermind about this question. Found out with 2017 user manual that it is EM57. It is funny that 2010 ~ 2012 has EM61, and newer model has EM57. I would assume the newer the higher number it is.
