Germany energy costs are beginning to show the impact of renewable energy efforts while CO2 emissions are increasing according to e.on - the political pressure of increasing energy costs are impacting the poor and the political fallout is being described as "Germany's Energy Poverty". Apparently the energy taxes to support renewable energy are across the board and are regressive, impacting the poor and transforming electricity into a luxury good.

Welcome Nekota - and you bring the 'fox news' of Germany with you.

In the real world, more Californians lose electrical connectivity each year than the entire country of Germany. E.on is an electricity supplier and most of the 'last industrial revolution' power providers are still against the transition to carbon free energy. And finally, electricity prices are driven up by the price of natural gas - renewables are bringing prices down, not pushing them up.

Just one example report of many:

In the real world, the German people are DEMANDING that fossils stay in the ground and that nukes are shut down - and they will continue to do that in spite of propaganda to the contrary.

Most news stories focus on the cost of electricity in Germany, which has some of the highest rates per kilowatt-hour in the world. But they don’t note that the average German electricity bill – about $100 a month – is the same as for most Americans.

Millions of Germans are building their retirement nest egg by individually or collectively owning a share of wind and solar power plants supplying clean energy to their communities. Nearly half of the country’s 63,000 megawatts of wind and solar power is owned locally, and these energy owners care as much about the persistence of renewable energy they own as they do about the energy bill they pay. Not only do these German energy owners reduce their own net cost of energy, every dollar diverted from a distant multinational utility company multiplies throughout their local economy.
I suspect this last sentence is the real reason Der Spiegel and their pro-big business allies are against renewable power in Germany. This is one of the reasons e.on is against it - Germans are taking control of their grid - they're buying it from the corporations:
Quote:
"50.9 percent of the population voted to re-communalize electricity, gas and district heating networks which are currently in the hands of multinational energy companies Vattenfall and Eon.

As noted back in June 2012, German solar installations cost a little more than half what US solar installations cost.
