I don't think you should have a lot of worries about either of those questions. If you're leasing, they're both going to be under warranty for the duration of the lease. And neither is likely to have major issues during that time anyway. They're both relatively safe cars for a small hatch/sedan. It's really more a personal preference.
I didn't test drive the Focus, and frankly hadn't even thought of it. But I'd have gone LEAF anyway. I wanted a hatch, and also wanted something "different". Yes, the Focus EV is different because it's electric, but it looks like every other Focus on the road. I like the fact that the LEAF is a stand alone EV model.
