Not quite sure where to post this question. Awhile back I saw this film:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1578275/
The Dilemma (2011)
I'm really not particularly recommending the film, but while the main plot revolved around a romance or two, the day jobs of the guys involved in the romances formed a side-bar - they were trying to design and make a sale to a Detroit auto business (perhaps an OEM, I don't recall very well) of a system for making an EV sound like a really great muscle car.
I've gone back and forth in my mind about whether this is a good idea, but also I have seen a video of some EV motorcycle racing and while it looked kind of interesting, I also think it brings out this question of whether there are circumstances where it might be worth it to ask if we could ask EVs to make ICV caliber noise, perhaps just for racing purposes?
Does anyone know how much of any energy penalty there is and whether it's been tried in EV racing? Any thoughts on the pros and cons?
