Will a Leaf work for my commute from mountains to Denver?

thanks to everyone for these FANTASTIC replies. I am on a host of other forums for all my hobbies, this was a great showing of really good advice! Thanks!

I think its too close to make it worth it. I don't want to have it in the back of mind all the time that I might run out of power on my way home, or get stuck in a snowstorm, or that my batteries will not be up to the commute in 2 years time.

Guess I'll keep my beater going as long as possible, hopefully someone will come out with a car in the next year or two that is a little more capable. I literally do not put any maintenance (besides tires, brakes, and oil changes) into my civic. It was a $1500 car that's gone 84,000 miles so far. My previous one only made it 22,000 and the head gasket blew. But I just keep buying new ones for $1500 and then sell them for $400-$500 when they crap out. So, less than $100 a month to own the car on the worst end.... and on the one I'm driving now, I'm at about $30 a month to buy the car.

Anyway, I like the technology, I would be into all the geeky aspects of owning a Leaf. But, really I just need a reliable, cheap commuter car.

Thanks everyone. have fun in those leafs!
